Alfredo Pina's Solo Exhibition - Underneath the "Truth"

I was once told, “Every man has something to hide, the brighter the picture the darker the negative.” What we show one another, tell one another, hear from others is hardly truth. Every society extols the fictional characters it creates and those who best emulate their contrived characteristics.

This exhibit of paintings and drawings is a break from truth and a focus on sincerity. This is a unique opportunity to look inside an artist, his desires, anger, insecurities, passions, joys, addictions and so on without a persuasive objective. Instead, the audience is invited to follow their own interpretation of each artwork in how it relates to their life experience; to question who you really are underneath it all when nobody is looking, where nobody can hear.

Alfredo Piña is a promising upcoming artist in New York. He has no formal art education, but has always been an artist with great interest in surrealism, pop art, graffiti and abstract expressionism, all of which have elements implemented in his work. He paints with oils, acrylics, water colors, spray-paint, and rust. After a recent trip to Figueres, Spain, hometown of Salvador Dalí, he has decided to follow his true calling as an artist at all costs.
